Step 2 – We use difference of squares method to factorize x^{2} – 9

= a^{2} – b^{2} = (a + b) (a – b)

= So, considering a = x and b = 3

= x^{2} – 3^{2}

Answer = (x + 3) (x – 3)

We can recheck that our answer is correct by calculating the product of the factors we got in the answer.

= (x + 3) (x – 3)

= x (x – 3) + 3 (x – 3)

= x^{2} – 3x + 3x – 9

Answer = x^{2} – 9
